i want to get a cheap board and Biostar is the cheapest i can find.is Biostar any good or does it have compatability problems or short life or high on DOA ratting?

Biostar is for low-end market.. they are OK, but not the best... if u want an alternative then i would recommend going with Asrock.. they are a subdivision of ASUS ( top motherboard maker) and they make good quality mobo's for the price... i have few.. and they work well.

i have tried biostar and i had problems with them... but ASrock, i have been lucky so far

ASUS would be my top number 1 choice

Never buy a motherboard with out reading the review of it. Tomhardware.com and motherboard.com offer reviews.
