A computer case (also known as the computer chassis, cabinet, tower, box or housing) is the enclosure that contains the main components of a computer. Cases are usually constructed from steel, aluminum, or plastic, although other materials (such as wood and perspex) have also been used in case designs.

A "tower" is simply a configuration of a computer system. It's merely a box, tall like a tower, in comparison to a laptop, or a desktop.
Inside the box are components like a hard drive, motherboard, disk drive, card slots, CD or DVD read/write drives, sound/video/graphics cards, modem, etc.
A tower will have all the components except the monitor, keyboard and mouse within a vertical housing.

No you are correct. The tower is the Case. Inside the tower(or CASE) is the Hard Drive, CPU, Motherboard, CD-ROM/DVD-ROM, memory, Video/Audio Card, NIC, etc. A hard drive is a small device that sits inside the tower

No, the Tower simply means the casing. The hard drive is just that, a mechanical piece of hardware.

The tower holds the hardware, the hard drive is a hardware device that stores data.

The tower usaully refers to the case and all of the componets inside ( i don't want to name them all). The hard drive is one of the components, but you are correct.
