Why havent they made operating systems into motherboard architecture????

It would be a lot faster no lousy Hd to rely on usb flash drives 1GB are like 30 dollars and that would fit an OS on it why havent they done this?

Operating systems are really big and it would be complicated for normal users to upgrade there operating system, it would probably work a lot better..but isn't as simple.. they probably wills oon enough though, at least have flash drives for it.
