If you log on to http://www.crucial.com, and install their Crucial System Scanner (You'll need to scroll down that first page until you see the button 'Scan My System' on the right hand side), it will examine your computer and identify if you have any free memory slots, and tell you what sort of RAM is compatible.
Of course, you don't have to buy your RAM from them. Simply make a note of the information given.

You will need to make sure you get the proper type of ram. Either speak with a tech at a computer store. Try not to go to staples or future shop because there walk around employs know nothing compared to an honest computer store tech. He will make sure you find out exactly what type of ram to get. You might need to buy 2 sticks and remove your old one.
We could help you on line but it will take sometime and you would need to post a few things about your PC. You can message me if you want and I can try to help. I would suggest you speak with a tech because he or she will be able to know if its even worth it in the first place. Also write down your Computers specs as best you can and show or tell it to the tech.

If you are using your computer for games you will need more RAM than you have otherwise the hard drive will be used as memory. This is too slow for games and will also slow your machine down, so upgrade your RAM and you will see an increase in speed.
Hope this helps.

If you are talking about a flash drive, then no it would not help. You need to identify if you have any empty ram slots inside the system. If there are empty slots then you can add more ram. If the ram slots are all used, you will have to replace the existing stick(s) with larger capacity modules.

You will need another ram stick. Go for 512mb. Also if your computer was bought recently then most probably go for the middlle range rams due to high compatibility.
