If it is actually a hardware failure you would be very lucky if anything that has gone wrong with a modern board is repairable without specialist equipment. Many of the components are too small to identify with the naked eye and almost impossible to place by hand, others are surface mount and the legs are so close together that they are virtually impossible to solder by hand. Then there's the ball grid arrays, the only way to remove them without damaging the board is to heat up the device until the solder melts, the only good way to attach new ones is by sending them through an oven at a very specific temperature for a very specific time, too much heat or time and the balls melt too much and give an unreliable connection, too little and they don't melt... and give an unreliable connection.
