okay it registers under System bios, but when i go to system under control panel then hardware then add hardware it says this when i try to install it. "Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41)"

about 1 month before the drive was working fine.

okay i dont think that is is broke because i have 2 dvd drives and the both stoped working on the same day also if i plug in other Drive it doesnt dont work also

Recommended resolution


A driver was loaded but Windows cannot find the device. This error occurs when Windows does not detect a non-Plug and Play device.

If the device was removed, uninstall the driver, install the device, and then click Scan for hardware changes to reinstall the driver. If the hardware was not removed, obtain a new or updated driver for the device.

If the device is a non-Plug and Play device, a newer version of the driver might be needed. To install non-Plug and Play devices, use the Add Hardware wizard. Click Performance and Maintenance on Control Panel, click System, and on the Hardware tab, click Add Hardware Wizard.

On the General Properties tab of the device, click Troubleshoot to start the Troubleshooting Wizard.

I had the comparable issue and for months no longer able to sparkling up it. restore guy suggested a sparkling DVD force. finally, (after interpreting a tenet on the cyber web) I took the small hose extension from my vacuum cleanser and vacuumed the laser (small concave dot that looks on that element of the bay of the force while opened that strikes returned and forth because it reads the DVD). it extremely works nice now!

if it is not working properly u have to change the DVD-ROM with DVD writer it will not cost more to purchase the DVD om with DVD writer it best to buy DVD writer it will help- in future

That's because it's broke.Go to wal-mart and buy another for around 50 bucks.

Did you check the cables inside the PC?
Does it still open?

It's cheap nowadays, you should buy dvd writer
