What can i do? Should i format it or is there any way not to lose the data stored?

I think your memory device has corrupted better use your pocket money to buy a new flash drive instead of wasting time on this one.

Well I am pretty sure the device or the disc has corrupt areas/bad sectors. Even if you format the disc, the same message will be displayed after using it for three or four times. I would like to suggest that you must go for good quality when it comes to USB devices. QUality does matter in this case.

I assume you are asking about a USB-storage device (i.e. thumb drive)?

If so, as any other "file system" it can develop problems if removed during write operation or due to an internal defect.

you can try following:
1) check disk to fix file-system errors if it is visible to Windows
start->run -> chkdsk k:
(letter for your drive)

2) formatting (loose all data)
in Win. explorer right click on device-letter and select format.

If it's not formatted the data on it is already corrupted. Formatting is your only solution.

If you don't have any data then format it else don't.

If there's data on it and important to you then consider first installing recovery program like the link below.
