Assuming that the power and IDE cables haven't been loosened, do the following:
1. Navigate to your Device Manager and right click on the drive. Choose "Uninstall".
2. Once that's done, reboot your pc and Windows should "see" the drive as new hardware and load the drivers for it automatically.

Go to start ,then control panel,then add remove proggrames & look for the name or make of drive if it's not there type into search bar on yahoo the make and name of the dvd drive then dowload drivers for it from there company page get back if you struggle ok.

The most common cause of the drive not showing is a dead drive. Probably time to buy a new one.

Try to reinstall your driver... From the Control Panel...if u have the Driver disc..or CD rom for it...
