Hi I've just bought a new motherboard with a brand new 7.1 sound card.
I just don't know where to plug the mic. I tried all the plugs but I can't record anything. I was used to the old cards with a color for eveything. I just can make this work for recording

the mic is working perfectly.
I has things labeled as front, side, subwoofer, front green in, and many other stuff. Volume properties are not checked.

usually the color of :
microphone input is red
line in input is blue
output is green
and other 5.1 or 7.1 output is black or brown
the best input for recording is from line in.
choose what you use for recording as you plug in the control panel of your sound card.see is it muted or not.
or maybe your recording software use ASIO as streaming input/output.configure that rasionally.

They should still have color coding. If not check your manual that came with the mobo for which one is the mic. Also open up the volume control and make sure the mic is not muted.

Read the motherboard manual. It will have a labeled diagram.

TIP: Test your Mic on another PC, it may be toast.
