The rest of the keyboard always works fine, but the Tab-Y key are consistently breaking down everyday sometimes for hours. Do I need a new keyboard, or what? Thanks!

I haven't heard of such, but it SOUNDS like a somewhat "cute" virus or worm, etc in that that the keys affected are.

TABQWERTY.......

It could be also be a problem with dirt\dust etc on that particular part of the keyboard. Did you happen to spill anything on that part of the keyboard???

Couple things to try, Attach an external keyboard to see if it also has the same "problem" with the TAB QWERTY.

2nd: You can remove the keyboard driver in Device manager Shutdown your computer, wait a couple of minutes, Restart the computer and let Windows Reinstall the keyboard driver
