Random Access Memory is RAM. the best way to describe it is to compare it to falling asleep. When you are asleep do you remember everything you have to do the next day. No, temporarily it disappears into your subconscious until you wake up in the morning and then you remember oh yeah I have to go to the drug store and pick up groceries. When you turn your computer on the RAM holds all the software and hardware stuff in its memory until you ask to use it. If you didn't have ram your programs would not run. I hope this helped take care Heather

RAM (Random-Access-Memory) is where your computer stores information it is working with, and can load everything that is in memory at an extremely fast rate. When you load up something from the hard drive, it goes into memory, so it can retrieve it faster (since hard drives are relatively really slow compared to memory). So, the more memory you have (assuming you are using all of it right now) and the faster the memory is able to handle processes the faster your computer will run.

I think it stands for Random Access Memory. And it is memory that programs can access quickly for computations, etc. without resorting to accessing the hard drive. Different programs requite different amounts of ram to function smoothly. Generally speaking the more ram you have, the faster a program will process large files.

RAM is random access memory. Whenever you load up a program. For instance word, a certain percentage of your RAM is then reserved to hold that program while it is running. If you do not have enough RAM in your computer, you may find your computere running very slow if you have multiple programs running at the same time.

i wont say what RAM stands for, since everyone has apparently felt it necessary to repeat each other
RAM is kinda like short term memory in a human
when you open a program, it goes there
lets say you open Word, but you dont have enough RAM
whatever you are typing will be writen directly to the hard drive

RAM is cleared every time you turn off your PC
whatever is in it goes to your hard drive, or "long term memory"

if you dont have it, your computer wont work. very simple.

random access memory. basically it's like the energy of the pc, the more energy u have , the better and faster you can work right? so the more ram your pc has, the better and faster it works without slowing down, a must have if you do highly demanding tasks on the pc---3d animation, video editing, gaming.
