I changed the memory on my pc, the memory wasn't the right size, so we took it back but the pc with the old memory never came back on. We tried turning it on several times, the pc works, but nothing comes on the screen. The screen says "not video input", we checked all the cables, all is connected but nothing comes on the screen. Please help..Thank you...

I've had this problem before. Bought the wrong RAM for the PC, and had to put it back the way it was.

The 'no video input' means the monitor is not plugged in to the computer, or the video card is not operating. Make sure its plugged in, and the video card is seated properly on the motherboard,

Make sure you put everything back the way it was. I suggest that you should pull the old ram out, and reset it again in the slot, making ABSOLUTELY sure that it fits properly. I would say that this is most likely your problem.

When you turn on the PC, it undergoes a self test, to ensure that the hardware is working properly. Usually, success is signalled by a single 'beep', then the computer fires into action. If it beeps more than once, this is a code to signify where the problem is. Count the number and length of beeps , and let us know. This usually signifies the source of the problem.

Good luck

There's a possiblity you may have either bumped the video card or harmed it. When the PC turns on if you hear a series of beeps it would be wise to check your connections and reseat each of the cards. Some video cards need to be hooked up seperately from all the other equipment in your machine, some in conjunction with your hard drive.
Make sure to unplug and ground yourself before doing any work on the inside.

Check that the existing memory card has not been disturbed. Also if your video card is not inbuilt (the monitor connects to a card fitted to a pci or agp slot) make sure the card is pushed firmly into place. This is a very common problem when working inside the machine. Do all these checks with the power disconnected to prevent damage to components, also make sure you touch the metal of the case before you touch anything to eliminate any static problems.

Hi. You may have disturbed the video card. Loosen the screw (1) and re-seat the card. If that doesn't work look for loose cables inside the case. Try the monitor on another PC. Try another monitor on your PC. Good luck!
