I am having problems booting up my emachine computer with windows xp home edition. when i press the power button it turns on normally but then at the windows Xp loadind screen a blue screen pops up for a second not giving me time to read the screen. Then it would go to a error screen saying to enter safe mode because theres a problem. sO i cannot go into the normal mode it will only allow me to log on to safe mode what could be the problem?

I have an optical drive which I want to know whether it can burn DVD's. Is there any way to find out how? I tried the hardware properties and could not get any fruitful results.
Thanks in advance.

I want to buy a computer program, one of it's System Requirements is for my computer to have 384 MB of RAM. When I install this program, will it eat up all of my RAM? And I no longer can install anything? Or will it only use the RAM when I use the program...thanks.

I need to know this tonight, if anyone knows the answer, thanks for posting it...

I recently installed a 2nd HD onto my PC. When I plugged everything back in, it all worked fine, except my LCD monitor now has a red tint. I am fairly certain, however, that the problem is in the video card. When the monitor is unplugged, the "Check cable connection" screen shows up in the normal colors, but when I start up the comp, even the bios screen has a red tint. Any ideas?

How much of a difference would one notice between a 1.6Ghz and 1.73Ghz Core 2 Duo processor. Other things held constant: system bus, ram etc.

After i had this infection that i cleared, the connection startet gettin really slow and this blue page appears sayin that there's a system fault (FAULT_PAGING_NON_PAGED_AREA)or sumthin like that, and that it had 2 b shut down.

no here's the deal, i download like hell -i mean i keep my PC on for months downloading- so could this mean that i have to change my network card (i have a 1MB DSL), or is there something else wrong ?

I have a 1.86 GHz 6300 Intel Core 2 CPU with 2 GB RAM and integrated graphics card. Which would be the better investment to run VISTA, adding 2 more GB RAM or a dedicated graphics card ($100-$200 price range)? I have a PCIx16 slot available.

On Saturday of last week, I had just restarted my computer. Upon turning it back on, my mouse wasn't moved. It was 15 hours and several system resotres/uninstallations/etc. later before I found an old mouse (I had tried several and none worked) that plugged into the mouse port in the back of my computer. The next day, upon trying to save something to my flash drive, it wouldn't connect. Fearing the worst, I tried to print something and play a CD with my external USB CD Burner. My fears were confirmed, none of my USB ports were working. I have no idea how to fix this, and my Google search for results only brung me to uninstall and reinstall the USB drives via the Device Manager, which didn't help. This wouldn't be that big a problem if my computer could burn CDs or anything other than a Floppy disk, since I'm getting a new computer in the mail today or tomorrow, save the face I have several hundred files that I need to transfer from here to there. Any help will be GREATLY appreciated.

Bought a 512 MB stick of 3200 DDR RAM to compliment my other 512 MB stick.

ALL SPECS ARE THE SAME BETWEEN THE TWO STICKS AND MY MOTHERBOARD CAN SUPPORT EVERYTHING.

That being said....my system worked fine before installing the new stick. After installation, my system would hang, halt and freeze at random times. After removing the new RAM stick, everything went back to normal.

Is this a case of just having a bad RAM stick? There is a warranty on it but the manufacturer is giving me a little bit of the run around.
