Bluetooth has a lot to do with wireless technology. Some computers have bluetooth, and some cell phones have blueotooth as well. On a computer, you can have a bluetooth mouse, keyboard, keypad, ect. If you want to use those bluetooth devices, but your computer doesn't have bluetooth, you need to get a USB Bluetooth Adapter.

Bluetooth is a protocol used mainly by handheld devices (PDAs, cell phones, etc) to transmit data back and forth to eachother. It's most commonly used for cell phones for wireless earpieces, but iPods also use the technology for some wireless headphones, as well.

It's mainly just a quick, easy way to transmit data wirelessly without having to configure any settings.
