Have a 2003 Gateway with usb1 jacks will A usb 2.0 hub attached to a pci slot give me usb 2.0 speed/transfer rate or is the pci bus slower then usb1.0 speeds. I believe the pci bus on this model(e4200) operates @ 66mhz.

Yes, 66Mhz but a data transfer rate of 133mb/s. That is assuming that by hub you mean PCI card. So yea, it will work faster, but not as fast as 2Mb/s

Usb 2.0 rarely runs at the max speed anyhow.

If you mean, purchase and install a USB adapter with 2.0 in the PCI slot, then the answer is yes.

No the hub will run at 1.1 speeds. Are you sure the 2003 Gateway's USB is 1.1 though?
