How much of a difference would one notice between a 1.6Ghz and 1.73Ghz Core 2 Duo processor. Other things held constant: system bus, ram etc.

The difference is literally barely above the processing power it takes to play an mp3. Although it's two chips, so technically 2x if you were to dedicate one processor to each mp3.

assuming you mean both core2 processors than barely any. if you mean between a Pentium 1.6 and a core2 1.73 than a massive difference

not much unless you like running 4 different things at once. if you do go for the higher number.
