I don't know why your Disk Cleanup is not working properly. But, you still have other options. You can choose to delete the files manually. For Internet Explorer, from the menu bar Tools > Internet Options > General tab > Browsing History > click [Delete]. The latter will delete all temporary internet files, download programs and cookies. You will need to go in to C:/Document and Settings/[user name]/Temp to delete Windows temporary files. Or, you can choose to use a third party cleaner. Someone mentioned CCleaner (aka Crap Cleaner) and its an excellent free tools. The download link is (http://www.piriform.com/) Other good choices are Easy Cleaner (http://personal.inet.fi/business/toniarts/ecleane.htm). Both are free and delete files which Disk Cleanup does not remove.
