Hibernating, is better since it saves a lot of time during the boot up process and you reach to the same state where you left in last session.

You need to enable hibernating from Control Panel - Power options.

If your system does have an AT type of power supply, then it will not support hibernation.

Basically hibernating is used to save the desk top settings as it you have left with out restarting the system and even you have to save the battery life of the laptop and when the laptop goes in the hibernating mode you can press the on/off button to get into the normal mode. you can carry the laptop in the hibernate to any wear with out shuttling down so that when you open the laptop it will again ask you give the password and login when you left the laptop as it was working

it is better because it doesnt 'fragment' your drive. the more 'fragmented' your drives are, the slower they run. which can make applications load slower as well as overall system startup run slower. it also boots up faster if it comes out of hibernation rather than being off.

if you want it to go out of hibernation, you can try typing on the keyboard or moving the mouse around. if this doesnt work then lightly press the on/off button.

however, if these dont work then dont bother stressing out about it too much. just make sure you run disk defragmenter in: start>all programs>acessories>system tools>disk defragmenter. do this once a month to keep your computer running as fast as possible.

also use disk cleanup which is in start>all programs>acessories>system tools>disk cleanup, and make sure you have upto date antivirus software
