Hi, I have a IBM thinkpad T42 which has one 512 DDR RAM, I recently got a new 1GB DDR2 RAM, I just want to know , Can I install that into my IBM and let it just perform at DDR speed? Thanks.

DDR2 is NOT comcaptble with DDR.

Find some cheap RAM on Ebay.

no the ddr computer wont accept DDR2 ram

because the ddr is having 184 pin and ddr2 is having 216 pin and ddr2 is bigger in size

No, DDR and DDR2 RAM are different and will not work together.

No, it doesen't. DDR SDRAM DIMMs have 184 pins (as opposed to 168 pins on SDR SDRAM, or, 240 pins on DDR-2).

So it just won't fit in there

Not likely, read the manual that came with your PC to find out what type of RAM to use.

No, they require different cpu's at least, to work with them. Maybe different mobo's too.
I know they're definitely not compatible though!
