Hurry up solid state drives that what I say, good riddence to the bottlekneck of hard drives!

For hard drives it pretty much already has been replaced. SATA hard drives are the same price or cheaper than comparable IDE ones. SATA are so much faster than IDE theres really no reason to use IDE unless your motherboard dosent support SATA.

For CD/DVD I'm not sure. I have seen a few SATA DVD burners, but they're generally 3 - 4 times the price of an IDE model and no faster since they're limited by the speed the disk spins rather than the speed of the cable.

All the bluray and HDDVD drives I've seen so far are SATA, so it looks like SATA is going to be the standard for high-def optical formats.
