I need it because my CD burner is not working and i need quickly a burner to burn some important files. Also it would be better if i buy a DVD burner instead of a Cd one because that way i can't burn both formats.

hi i have a dvd burner that came with my computer and it doesnt seem to be able to burn dvds. If i try to burn a cd or something it works perfectly. Could it be my dvd disc? im trying to write on a TDK dvd-r. and the dvd writer says its dvd r/rw compatible. I don't know what the model for the dvd writer is though. I was wondering if theres any tests i can run on it to see if its still working. Thank you!

I have this prehistoric computer, with a 1.9g CPU and 512RAM. About a year ago I put in a Nvidia 6800GS AGP 256mb video card, which seemed like a boost from my 64mb old one. With the new one I was able to jumpstart Oblivion (the old one couldn't support all the shading so it gave me dark screen during game play). If I was to give this old pc one more push, do you think that upgrading RAM would be beneficial, or should I just get a new motherboard, a new video card and start the saga all over again?

I want to check my CPU temp in BIOS, but I can't find it. Yes, I know you can do it via third party programs, but I want to do it through BIOS. I'm running Windows XP Professional, but I don't think that matters. Thanks.

I need to know which is better; Pentium D or Core 2 Duo? I'm building a computer which will have (roughly):

1 8800 GTX nVidia video card
4 GB RAM
1 500GB hard drive

That's pretty much the only thing I can think of that's really affected by the CPU. The CPU I'm looking at is Pentium D 3.4GHz, and the Core 2 Duo is 2.66GHz. The FSB on the Core 2 Duo is 1066 or something, and the Pentium D is 800, I'm pretty sure that makes a difference.

I really want this system for playing Oblivion, 3D Modeling, and, well, pretty much every next-gen game that comes out. PS: I'm completely aware that they both have dual cores, so please don't tell me the Pentium D has one. Thanks!
