Because my daughter damaged PS/2 port of the mouse, I've been using PS/2 ->UBS adapter to make a connection between my desktop computer and the keyboard. Now I want to reinstall Windows XP and noticed that when I tried to launch the installation CD from the CD-ROM, it prompted to enter any key on the keyboard. However, I keyboard doesn't work because it's connection using the USB port rather than PS/2. To continue to reinstall the system. So, do I get a USB port recognized in the DOS environment? I appreciate anyone who is knowledgeable to this issue. Thanks.

I didn't turn on my computer for almost 2 months because i went for holiday. When i restarted, the message above appeared while the window was still loading. I tried to press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart but the same message appeared. Window failed to initialize the loading. The movie will launch for a few seconds than the slider progress bar stops but you can still hear the audio and then a few seconds after that the whole system locks up. If you pause the video for a few seconds then play it again you can see a few more seconds of video till it happens again.
I have tried everything to fix the problem. At this point I have a fresh install of windows, updated all my drivers and the PC is virus free but it still doesn't work. I am sure it is a hardware problem at this point but not sure what. When the problem happens the fans becomes loud and my CPU usage shoots to 100%.
Has anyone ever had this problem and do you think I need a new fan or power supply or what. Please don't tell me I need more ram or a better graphic card. It's also not Viruses or codex's or drivers. If you have seen this problem exactly and know what the problem is let me know, I really need help!

I installed (or so I thought) a new DVD writer, but it does not show
up in My Computer. It ejects when I push the button so I think it is plugged in OK.

I misplaced the installation CD but downloaded the driver off the internet, but when I tried to install it, even the driver said there was no burner.
Help!
I am using windows and the burner is a Pioneer DVR-111D. When I search for new hardware, Windows can't find it.

I think I might have both my CD-Writer and DVD-writer set to master so I will try changing that, but I am sure that would not have such an effect.

I need a list of the power consumption (in watts) of
as many as possible processors (though mainly the new processors) is there an internetpage that has such a list?
I'm also interested in how much watts an ATX-mainboard, RAM,
DVD-burner and HDD in general need (approximately)?
And does a 400 W power supply always consume 400 W,
or only if the parts need that much?

My PC is a Core 2 Duo 2.4ghz, 2 x 1gb Cosair XMS, Gigabyte GeForce 7900GT

Ok, so I had a 10GB HD as master with Windows XP on it and a 160GB HD as slave with all my stuff(Documents, Video, Games, etc..)

What I tried doing(which I had done with my previous system) is to leave the Slave, and change the Master. I replaced it with a 40GB Master and that one had no OS on it, so on that 40GB I installed XP from an installation disk I had. Afterwards...I expected it to be like before...Everything's new and all my stuff is saved, I just have to redirect "My Documents" to my former D: drive(Slave).

BUT NO!!! I get a little message saying that it needs to be Formatted and that everything on it will be erased!!

That didn't happen before and I did the exact same thing!!

I'm assuming that all my files are still there and I just can't reach them...

Is there a way to save all my files?? Maybe some Tweaking in BIOS???

I don't want to go to those HardDrive Repair People because all of them charge ALOT!!!

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!
