ok so i go to defrag and it tells me not enough disk space to defrag so where do i go to delete unneeded fiiles and how do i know what is important to leave and what i can safely delete to get disk space needed thank you

go to start... then control panel... then add/remove programs... and it will bring up a list of all the programs you have installed.... you need to uninstall any old game you don't play any more... don't delete any Microsoft updates or drivers for you hardware.... you can also delete any old programs you don't use...

Burn your pic and music to CD's, then remove them from your computer. Also, if you download movies, burn those then remove them. All of these take alot of space on your hard drive.

what operating system are you useing?

if your using 98 or me then copy and paste below into notepad save as clean.bat

cls

deltree /y c:\windows\cookies\*.*
deltree /y c:\windows\tempor~1\*.*
deltree /y c:\windows\Recent\*.*
deltree /y c:\windows\temp\*.*
deltree /y c:\windows\History\*.*
deltree /y c:\temp\*.*
deltree /y c:\recycled\*.*
REM Temp Files deleted! Batch File written By Victor C.


ok copy done if you saved as a bat file simply click on it and it will clean your comp automatically
all the files listed above are safe to delete they are temp files

For xp
copy n save this as cleanxp.bat fill in your xp user name where it says

cls
echo -----------
cls
c:
cd "C:\Documents and Settings\userID\Local Settings\Temp"
del /q /s /f *.*
cd "C:\Documents and Settings\userID\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files"
del /q /s /f *.*
cd "C:\Documents and Settings\userID\Cookies"
del /q /s /f *.txt
exit


end copy it is best to save them on your desktop so its easy to find
