I accidently kicked my CD-ROM drive when it was open, now it's broke and won't close. Anyone know how I can fix this without taking it to someone? I would like to fix it at home because I don't have a warranty anymore. Please Help!

Buy a new one, they are less than 30 bucks, and it takes only a few minutes to put it in. If you aren't savvy, you must have at least one friend that it. You don't need any fancy drivers as a plain CD is pretty universally detected by Windows. While you are at it, why not upgrade to a burner? If your computer is new enough, make it a dvd.

You can always replace it yourself. Crack open the case and there is usually 2-4 screws holding the CD drive in and one maybe 2 cables in the back. Unplug and unscrew slide the new one into the same slot and hook everything back up. Install the new drivers when you power everything back on and you will be ready to go.
