Let me start off by saying that I am running windows me (i know i know its bad i know) well i was giving this computer for free its has 20 gb of space total. i have been having problems with low disk space. i have deleted everything includings history, cookies, temp files. I ran scan disk and defrag and it still says it ALOT its actually annoying. When I got it in October it had like no space used. There is like no pics and no music. Can I have a virus? What should I do next?

My ME is on a 2 GB partition. About 400 mb free space because I install my programs on a different partition.

If You have not installed many new programs definitely get a free anti virus program & scan for unwanted guests.

There are some applications that store files in Windows / Applications folder where system keeps Your profiles data. Check for big folders. Mail programs can create big old mail archives. ... Java cache...

You have to understand that the Operating System and Programs you install take up space too. The only way you are going to isolate the problem is to look at the size of the applications installed and navigate your hard disk. You can right-click on folders and choose properties to get the total zise of any folder or a group of folders.

You can try to run a ms cleanup program, but I don't think it will help. If you want to keep your os as is, try using Ghost for win95(dos program) to transfer to bigger hard drive and or upgrade your RAM and hope for the best.

It's not a virus, it's just that your os is very outdated. I have Ghost, email me.
