I need it because my CD burner is not working and i need quickly a burner to burn some important files. Also it would be better if i buy a DVD burner instead of a Cd one because that way i can't burn both formats.

I wouldn't go cheapest. As the price of combo dvd writers are only around $35US, I wouldn't say that's expensive. LG is a very good model, I usually have good luck with them.

A month ago... I bought an Asus combo DVD burner from www.computermarket.com.au for AU$50.00

Combo means that it can burn both CDs and DVDs.

Pretty much all DVD burners cost 30-40 dollars. Unless you get a SATA one (which you don't need unless you get a motherboard that doesn't have PATA or a slot drive one)
