besides seagate and western digital and maxtor....what hard drives are good, how about the following?
beyond micro
buffalo technology
iomega
smart disk
kanguru
iogear
any other brands you know about that are good?

Im not sure why you would want any of that other stuff for. Maxtor is the best in my opinion.

One way to tell a good hard drive or brand is how long is the warranty? Just one year warranty vs five for drive like a WD Raptor. The longer the warranty the more confidence the manufacturer has for the drive not failing prematurely and them having to replace it.

Hard drives today are pretty much the same. Go for price. I do like Seagate.
