Dual-core processor means that your Intel processor supports 2 processor cores in a single die (or) a single processor unit. There are 2 types of Dual core processors

1. Intel Pentium D &
2. Intel Pentium Core 2 Duo.

The Pentium D has 2 cores but it has a shared "cache memory" among the cores.

The Pentium Core 2 Duo is a true Dual core processor having seperate cache memory for each core, thereby giving good performance.

Note: Cache memory is a high speed & very small memory which is available "inside a processor" for temporarily storing the most frequently accessed data used by the processor. It's access speed is faster than your installed RAM(Random Access Memory) & HDD(Hard Disk Drive) !

I hope this sovles your query.
Have a nice time!
