It probably isn't the drive. Frequently, people have a lot of programs in their startup. They just sit there taking up RAM. With less RAM, the computer spends a lot of time swapping to the hard drive, which is a lot slower than main memory. In addition, the swap file can be shrunk if your drive is very full. So, if the computer has to search for swap space to move things out of memory when needed, that slows things down. So, try doing a little clean-up of your startup and see if you can get more RAM for your computer. Good luck.
