When trying to bring up windows media player 10 I only get an error message.?

An internal application error has occurred!
What does this mean?
I have no sound at all.
And how do I fix it?
Any info will be appreciated

get the latest windows media player (11) on www.microsoft.com

Get the latest codecs. And if that doesn't work, then reinstalling player, then install the codecs pack below, on Professional Mode.

install your soundcard drivers.install media player again. then try to run it.
