I have a Hewlett Packard s7700n with an AMD Anthalon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+ 2.00 GHz. It has 894 MB of RAM and 250 GB of storage, of which 226 GB are currently free. I'm running Windows Vista. Can anyone give me a rough idea of how many music files (songs) I can store on my computer before it starts to affect my computer's performance?

It froze up and I turned it off manually by holding the on/off switch now it won't turn itself back on. If I press the on/off switch now it just turns on orange and stays that way, making no indications of trying to turn on (noises, activity shown on the internet router, nothing) I have unplugged it and then plugged it back in and still nothing. Im looking for some way to just get it back running so I can troubleshoot the problem but Im at a loss.

The last time I moved, I lost the CD's that came with my Dell.

I want to reformat now, called Dell, and got new CD's sent.

Before I go ahead and start reformating I just wanted to make sure I have everything I need.

The 2 CD's Dell just sent me are:

- Operating System, already installed on your computer, reinstallation CD, Win XP Home Edition SP 2

- Application, already installed on your computer, for reinstalling Dell tools system software. Contents: antivirus software (sw), support sw, multimedia sw and internet sw

Is this everything I need to go ahead and reformat and wipe everything out and put my PC back to the state it was in the day I first got it (as far as software goes)?

Thanks all!

My question is what would cause the following to happen? My screen freezes whether I am in the middle of something or not, then a blue screen comes up for about 3 seconds and then my pc restarts. I only get glimpses of the screen when it does it, but I have gathered that it says something along the lines of, there is an error......dumping physical memory.....Anyone know why? I have antivirus software installed (now anyway) and I just installed a registry cleaner.....is there another possible problem? Thanks

I use Pentium III, 256 MB RAM, 10 GB HDD and the operational program is XP Professional.

Almost every day it happens to me that the computer crashes and I get the warning on blue screen which goes something like this: “Windows encountered a problem and needs to shut down to prevent damage to your computer".
Also it is written that I might need to do some changes in the BIOS such as cancelling "cashing and shadowing", and then the computer restarts.
I scanned the hard drive for errors with check disk, but no errors were reported.

I really have a feeling that XP is not even close as stable as older operational programmes. Or is it something else that causes the problem? How do I enter the BIOS?

All that shows up on the reboot is the blue screen with the small XP welcome icon and no icons for my user logins. I've tried pushing F5 and tried every kind of safe mode reboots and still the same thing. I'm not that savvy on computer lingo, so please answer in layman's terms.

This is very strange as I know a bit about IT;
When I turn my pc off it will turn on by its self, at different times and any days, so I turn it off by the surge board. Also when I turn my pc off it sometimes restarts, the settings are ok because I tried a different hard drive, yet it still done its stupid habits. I am pretty sure that it is a part in the pc which is on its way out? But which part? My pc is only about 3 years old and my hard drive is new and is only 5 months old! Any suggestions out there?????

Problem-don't have software or restore cd for Win95--can this be fixed? Please help--it's a Dell pc-also can get on internet now but no sound.

My computer would shuts off by itself when I turn it on. The keyboard light and the orange light below the power button would be on, but the power button light itself would be off. When the computer shuts off, the power supply fan would still be working, but the fan in the middle would be off. I have to manually push the power button and wait for it to shuts down completely and then restarts. I would really appreciated if someone can help me with this problem. Thanks in advance.

My computer kept telling me my virtual memory was low. So I downloaded "ErrorSafe" and it could only fix so many probs. before I had to buy. It also said I had a DLL prob. so I did a scan for that and of course have to buy the "full version" to completely fix. Question..Is it worth it??? or what shall I do???
