I use Pentium III, 256 MB RAM, 10 GB HDD and the operational program is XP Professional.

Almost every day it happens to me that the computer crashes and I get the warning on blue screen which goes something like this: “Windows encountered a problem and needs to shut down to prevent damage to your computer".
Also it is written that I might need to do some changes in the BIOS such as cancelling "cashing and shadowing", and then the computer restarts.
I scanned the hard drive for errors with check disk, but no errors were reported.

I really have a feeling that XP is not even close as stable as older operational programmes. Or is it something else that causes the problem? How do I enter the BIOS?

I doubt it has anything to do with XP. Your computer has a relatively small amount of hard drive space and RAM compared to most computers these days. If you have too much stuff on your computer, spyware, or are doing a lot on the internet or playing games, your computer probably just isn't good enough to handle it. You could also have a virus. It depends, though.

The fact is, however, that there is no way for anyone here to diagnose your computer from here. Whether or not any of the above is true depends on what you do with your computer. Generally speaking, however, I would recommend getting a new one. You can get a computer four times or more better than what you have for under $500.

Here is the problem: your computer is from the 1990s. Running XP on a pentium III, which i am assuming is an old one, perhapds 700mHz or less, is suicide.

I dont know what programs you are running, but it doesnt really matter. If you want your computer to stop crashing, install windows 95 or ugrade your computer. Actually your computer is really old, so i suggest replacing it. Dell, HP, and Sony all have nice computers, many entry level and cheap in price.

restart your computer as the memory post or before press the F10 key and it will take you into the setup options to set the BIOS and do whatever else that needs to be done.
