I agree with Dr. HOUSE.
Even the older 2 Ghz or less Pentium 4 Celerons are outdated.

My suggestion would be to at least find a used 1.6 or 1.8 Ghz Pentium 4 Celeron CPU (you can overclock it to around 2.4 Ghz), with a motherboard that has a built-in video card.
You'll also need 512 MB of DDR RAM and a new power supply. You can use the old PCI sound card, but many motherboards have that built-in.

Possible options:

1. Increase the RAM some more.
2. Replace the processor with a Plll-500 or 600.
3. Possibly replace hard drive with a 7200 rpm, UDMA 4 capable and using 80 wire ribbon. Your PC might only be capable of detecting up to 32Mb.

No point in upgrading videocard since slot could just be AGP 2X. But use 16bit color setting instead of 32bit if you want faster performance.

Right now I'm wi-fi connected to the net using a revived "energy conserving" Plll-500mhz w/ 3x128Mb RAM and a 16Mb video card. This rig is for browsing w/MP3 in the background and also for DVD viewing. It shares keyboard, mouse and LCD screen via KVM with my gaming/OC'ing rig.
