My computer would shuts off by itself when I turn it on. The keyboard light and the orange light below the power button would be on, but the power button light itself would be off. When the computer shuts off, the power supply fan would still be working, but the fan in the middle would be off. I have to manually push the power button and wait for it to shuts down completely and then restarts. I would really appreciated if someone can help me with this problem. Thanks in advance.

To Richard: I'm using a program called Speedfan and it has my computer
temperature at around 34C. Thanks for your reply!

To pleaseth: This problem keeps happening when I just reformatted my computer. The only program I have downloaded is firefox, and after I downloaded firefox I "turned off" internet explorer. Thanks for your reply!

To James S: I have open up the case twice to clear the inside, especially the fans, but I have not remove any cards or memory stick before. I'll try your suggestion and let you know my result. Thanks for your reply.

Sounds like defective hardware. The cheapest thing to check first is make sure the fan is seated correctly to the processor so it doesn't overheat. I've also had this problem with a defective power supply. It's probably more related to a heat problem though.

You going to need to open the Computer case. First unplug all the devices in the back... Open the Computer case. Remove any cards like Video, Sound, Modem, and Network card if any. and put them back in. Your going to need a philips screw driver to do that. Then I would remove the memory sticks. Which is about 8 inches long and flat with two white clips holding it in and put it back into the slot until you hear clips click into place making sure you put it back in the slot in the way it came out. Then check your fans for dust and clean with q-tips. and then I would reconnect all the plugs in the back of the computer and try powering it on and see if the CPU fan spins which will be on a huge piece of metal with fins on it. I would also check for bad capacitors. Here is a website here for you to see what Im talking about. http://www.badcaps.net/ident/ look at the 4 pics there any see if you have that problem...

It doesn't sound like it is actually turning off, but rather either suspending or sleeping mode. If the computer turned off completely, then your power supply would shut down, and there would be no lights visible. What is the fan in the middle that you're talking about? It sounds like it could be a hard drive fan, and thus supports the notion that its entering sleep mode.
