Desktops - April 2007

I am wanting to do a wipe of my drive using gwscan on my gateway gt5404 The boot cd works on all other computers but on mine it says it cannot detect my drive. It sometimes says free dos on it.

can u tell me what I can do to make it work? Thanks guys. I will give you points.

My computer has 128 mb total system memory...Would that be considered small by today's standards? It has a 20 GB hard drive. And it's 700 MHZ, lol.

Basically, my computers completelys f#c!ed ( sorry but its the best word to describe it. Its jam-packed with viruses, unwanted files that have somehow downloaded, its ridiculously slow and im going crazy with frustration. What I want to do is completely wipe my hard drive and start over again. PLEASE HELP :(

anyone help i have a asrock k7s41 motherboard.with a

i have a t180 it came with vista on it i uninstalled it & put xp on now i can't get on the net i have a rounter & i have the acer in slot 1 & the light pos to be on when a ethernet plug/comp. is pluged in i checked the cord & everything my laptop & old comp is working on the rounter i had this prob on a diff. comp befor & i had to download some kinda drivers but i forgot what i downloaded can someone please help thx......

I want a QX6700 core 2 extreme processor and i was wondering if the P5l-vm mobo will take it cuz on new egg it says Core 2 Extreme supported now i dun know it will run Quad core...

About 3 months ago, my desktop pc suddenly restarted on its own when I was surfing web, doing word, excel...etc. I thought the problem came from 80G HD. Therefore, I removed the the 80G HD and placed my old 10G HD.

About 2 weeks ago, the 10G HD started to restart on its own again.

What' wrong with my pc? I tried defrag, virus scan, spyware scan -- nothing helped to solve the problem!!! Both my 80G & 10G HD were new when I have purchased them and I am the own users. (10 G HD had never failed before)

Motherboard failure? Anyone had the same problem before? Please give me some advice.

The CPU usage is always jumping around 100% and his computer is horribly slow.
PF Usage is normal
I checked the names of ALL names under "Processes" and there is nothing that shouldn't be running.

What else can I do to help speed it up?!?! It's waaaaay too slow!

Hi, i just learned that my Power supply and CPU fan are the ones cooling my computer. I need a case fan, but when I look at the back, I dont know what to do. Do I measure from side to side, or from diagonal to diagonal? Thanks.

whenever i turn my computer on..only the fans seems to be working. The cd-drives wont open, the hard drive is not even running. but when i disconnect the cd-drives, or the hard drive from the mobo they start working., cd drives open and hard drive starts running. i am thinking its the motherboard...any suggestions???

The PC was working fine after they replaced the motherboard.
TOday, plugged in the USB memory stick, and then, started the computer. The PC tries to come on, and then, shuts down.
I cannot make to to BIOS. Sometimes, it goes all the way to the desk top, and then, abruptly shuts down. Any thoughts ? thanks for help

Out of 960 mb of ram installed I only have 570 mb of it. Does defragment help a lot? I already had 512mb ram and bought a another 512mb ram.

recovery cd, after I tried to do that, there was an error in the recovery process and since then i've been getting error messages, the HP people keep sending me recovery disks but THEY all don't work.
