recovery cd, after I tried to do that, there was an error in the recovery process and since then i've been getting error messages, the HP people keep sending me recovery disks but THEY all don't work. Can someone please help? some of the error messages are a blue screen, and "txtsetup.sif" corrupted or missing, also " error loading operating system "

well the only reason i re-did it is because i was going to give the desktop to my little brother, and ofcourse with my luck it probably did toast my hard drive for some reason i can not even control, and ofcourse my warranty ended 3 months ago, this is the 3rd time they are sending me a recovery disk, they dont even listen to what i say , i'm so frustrated with HP right now, moving on to dell for sure...

Don't move on to Dell! Get a Mac! Lol, sorry... they're just better if you can afford them. I'm using a Compaq right now and have had no Problems with they're customer service. My previous computer was also a Compaq, and they had pretty good service on even their older models. I think you just have bad luck...

Try it again, but make sure you completely reformat the C drive first. If the drive has errors, this will show up during the format.

Your hard drive is toast! Send back the unit and request them to fix it. You have a warranty, right?

Why did you try to reinstall the OS if the computer was working fine?
