There are several ways you can do it, but if you want the data to be wiped completely then follow this process. 1. Use dban (Darik's Boot and Nuke). What this will do is wipe the hard drive with a random series of 0s and 1s. 2. Buy a torx screwdriver kit to open your hard drive. 3. Power down the computer completely and unplug it and then remove the hard drive. 4. Unscrew the metal platters and remove them. 5. Sand the surface of each platter thoroughly on both sides. 6. Rinse the platters 7. Smash the platters with a hammer. 8. (optional) Take a blowtorch to the platters just to be safe. 9. (also optional) Rent a degaussing wand and use that on the hard drive platters.

With your Window XP CD, place it in the cd drive. Format the HDD, then partition, the reinstall the OS. Also, Install drivers from your CD that came with your computer. Then Windows updates and more updates. Then download the other software. like Yahoo messenger, etc. This will be a all day project. Have FUN.

If you are installing a Microsoft operating system (which I'm guessing you are, given all the viruses you have), simply rerun the installation. During the installation, select to delete the current partition and create a new one and then select to format the disk. Just make sure to backup any critical data files (photos, emails, term papers, etc...) before doing that.

I noticed you said 'wipe'. Try Deric Nuke and Boot this is a DOD class 3 implement. It will write '1's' then '0's' then cancel both. You should be warned this program is brutal and unforgiving. If you have a second HDD, disconnect it, otherwise it will be neutralized as well! However, this just might be the thing for people who want to sell their HDD and want to make sure there is no data on it. Good Luck!

Get your Windows installation disk. Boot from the CD/DVD Drive. Begin reinstalling Windows. When you reach the screen prompting you about disk partitions, drop the partition. Re-create the partition. Format it. Install Windows. Done!

Just put in your Windows CD and reinstall -- it will format the drive (if it asks, choose full rather than Quick format). Just back up your data first, make sure you have CDs for any programs to reinstall them, and install antivirus/antispyware/firewall before going online.

Do you have your windows xp cd?
Restart your computer, insert the cd and allow it to boot from cd... then just follow the instructions on reformatting your computer.
