Some of my friends say Dell, some say Alienware. Please tell me what you think the best computer I should buy is. I do not want to build one myself. Just build it online and tell them what I want. Need something customizable. Thank you!

i have HP's pavilion slimline, a small-sized PC. however when i open the DVD tray (which i don't use too often), i see a lot of dust on certain sides of the DVD tray. my room isn't even dusty or anything. i don't know if it's because how this model was built, but i was wondering if others experience the same thing (who also use Pavilion Slimline).

I have a Thinkpad T22 with XP Pro installed. I cannot get my desktop to extend to my television. Have tried different resolutions, updated drivers, uninstalling and reinstalling tv. My computer seems to pick up on the fact that it is connected to another monitor but tv is still black, have even tried different adapters thinking outdated port might have been the problem. I have googled the subject a lot and heard from more than one source that I should have an option for tv out on this but you only have this option if windows me is installed. Any suggestions?

Hi, i went to this cpu place that builds cpu's and sells cpu parts. and they gave me a famflet, the cheapest thing i could afford is the $750.00 deal. Here's what it has

Intel PENTIUM D 820
1GB DDR MEmmory
250 gb /7200 rpm hard drive
16x dvd burner
Nvidia Geforce 7600 GS Pci express 256MB DDR3
And Windows Xp Home Edition

This cpu coasts $750.00 (all the money that i have, lol)

I want to know, 1) is this a good pc for games like battlefield 2, need for speed. 2) Idk what a intel pentium D 820 is, ne1 wanna clarify ? 3) Don't write in your comments to upgrade ur pc !! cuz ... my pc is 7 years old, with non-replacable motherboards/processors/out-dated hardware. So its either this pc or i look for something else.

thx

I have always had and used a Windows based machine and for my next upgrade am considering an Apple.

Looking over the specs for the Mac Mini I don't see any mention of a USB port, are the USB ports standard on Apples or do they not even use them?

Thanks for your help.

Also if you have changed from Windows based to Apple based would love to hear your thoughts on it!

i think it's coming from the fan... but it shouldn't be over heating when its 88 deg. F inside my house? when its 97 deg. outside, the sound becomes really loud... sometimes i can't really hear my music over it, and its kind of freaky. this problem started when i first got the computer too (around april 2005), although its fine during the winter. my warranty is about to end in a few weeks, and my mom wants me to call and ask them for a replacement. would this be a legit. reason? or, is there any other way i can fix it? (also, if they do send me a replacement, will they send me something to help transfer my files?)

I'm mainly a Mac guy and for years I've been able to clone my boot drive to an external Firewire hard drive and then boot from it and it look and act exactly like my main hard drive, with all my files and apps right there.

Is this possible with Windows XP? If so I need to set this up for my sister.

Thanks!

Today my computer started having problems regarding startup that it has never experienced before.
I have been on spring break for a week and before I left my computer was fine, and when I returned yesterday it had no problems starting up. (No one has access to the computer but me).
Today when I was trying to get on in the morning, my computer makes all the wind up noises that it normally makes, except the videocard fan was all the way wound up. Normally during startup the fan on the card will wind all the way up, then it will go to a slower setting.
The problem is, when it doesnt go down to the slower speed, my display doesn't pop up on my screen.
I am currently on my computer only for the 2nd time today, and I hesitate to shut it down.
Is something wrong with my video card? It is only a bit over 1 year old (radeon x700 pro agp). Or does the problem lie elsewhere?
I'm quite sure it's not a virus, as I only downloaded one object since sunday, that was zune software.
Thanks for the help

I have recently transferred a disc drive into my room computer and I had done it before, but when I tried to boot my computer afterwards it went on normally.
up until I saw it say that it needed to check the systems disk for validation or such. then it static for one second and turned to an orange light as if on standby. (the monitor) tower was just fine.
what should I do?????

Since my computer has so many viruses that I can't find and get rid of so I've just decided to wipe everything off my hard drive and put it back on.

What's the best way to save all of my data (pictures, documents, music)?

(Also, if you know, do I just press F10 on start up to go to the screen to wipe out my hard drive?)

I want to upgrade to be able to run things that I can't run now. Like a faster version of Verizon Fios. I have 320 mb RAM, 466 mhz processor, about 3 gb on my c drive (I can always get rid of some stuff and make it 5 gb) I've had this computer since about 2000. I'd like to keep it. I am new at upgrading (obviously). The last time I was going to upgrade on this pc I bought a laptop instead.
Any suggestions welcome.
Thanks!

I want to start using Linux Opp System. I was told that Linux is a good opp system to use if one is interested in learning how to do some computer programming. Can a normal PC do the trick? What about an Apple, it is about the same as a PC or do Apple only run their own opp system?

I have been using PC all my life so I know nothing about Apple or Linux. Please help.
