you can either do it your self or take it to a cmputer store. or do it this way. use a program called norton ghost, or just simply COPY and paste.

O and if you use this, before you follow these steps, format your external to NTFS file system, its a bit slower, but un noticeable. its mroe complex and offers greater file security, if you want

step one. leave your old harddrive in your computer, take your new harddrive and put it into an external harddrive case, (you can pick one up at any good computer store).

step two. then boot up your computer, go to My Computer, and it should show the external harddrive. then open your c:\ drive (main drive) and hit ctrl+c to copy ALL of the files.

Step three: open your external drive folder and hit ctrl+v to paste all of the files. that should work. and then you might have to install the OS onto the new harddrive, but im not quite sure.

Step 4: then take out your old drive, and put your desired drive in. and then you can use your old drive as a backup, put it inside that external drive box.

Hope that helps.

your welcome

ok,I am not quite sure if this is what you intend to do?if you are just trying to transfer data from another HDD to you own,one way is to connect it as a slave in your own computer and tranfer the data.
Please note that formatting the harddisk will erase (delete) all information of it.

*IF* you want to move your entire "old drive" to this "new drive you can do it quite easily by using a prg from Acronis.

It makes and EXACT copy of your drive to another drive, formats the other drive automaticly.

Basicly, it's a "one click operation.

Best part is they have a Fully Working FREE Trial version!
