i need to upgrade my computer...i want to play games like doom 3 and unreal tournament 2004...
my system specs are...
1.7ghz Celeron Processor
256mb of RAM
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5700LE

i cant upgrade all at once...

I can upgrade to...

2.4ghz Pentium 4 processor
1GB RAM
im not sure what video card...any suggestions

what should i get first.

i bought the tower used a yr and a half ago and the monitor new about a yr ago.

I want to buy a computer. I want to have a fast one for downloading music. I don't plan on playing elaborate games on it. I would play The Sims on it but thats it. I want to buy it new and at a good price. Can anyone give me advice on how to buy a computer. Thanks

Hi, I have an issue with my computer... It runs pretty slow and I hate the slowness. It's takes at least a minute when the computer is loading the desktop, the icons and task bar is gone, but you see the background image, then everything loads again. I have about 4 Virus program scanners + Firewall and there appears to be no viruses or threats.... I also have The Sims2, Paint Shop Pro, so a system recovery is out of the question. How can I speed up my computer without taking out these two programs? I also have alot of other programs so yes... help?

Sometimes my computer will just start making a plunger-liked sound. After a few minutes of this the screen turns blue and says a lot of stuff and at the bottom of the screen it says beggining dump on physical memory, or something like that. What sould I do?

When changing a motherboard do I have to reformat my hard drive to install new motherboard drivers. Or is there a way to that new driver will delete existing and replace with new. I usally do reformat my hard drive eveytime I upgrade motherboard ,but I was wondering if it is really necessary?

I am looking to beef up my OLD computer a little. I have a motherboard that supports Intel Pentium 4 (Socket 478) Processors. My current processor is a 1.5 GHz, 400 MHz System Bus.

While looking at possible replacements online, I see all kinds of Pentium 4 (Socket 478) processors but they all list different System Bus speeds. Some are 400 MHz, some 533 MHz, some 800 MHz.

My questions are... What does the System Bus speed really mean? What is better? Can I put a 800 MHz chip in place of my current 400 MHz chip or am i limited to only 400 MHz?

when i start my pc with the new drive i get No boot drive detected. insert system disk and press F1 or F2 to setup menu. i dont know what a system disk is or what to do in the setup menu. what do i need to do??
