Hi, I have an issue with my computer... It runs pretty slow and I hate the slowness. It's takes at least a minute when the computer is loading the desktop, the icons and task bar is gone, but you see the background image, then everything loads again. I have about 4 Virus program scanners + Firewall and there appears to be no viruses or threats.... I also have The Sims2, Paint Shop Pro, so a system recovery is out of the question. How can I speed up my computer without taking out these two programs? I also have alot of other programs so yes... help?

Most of the time, virus scanners are loaded on boot. If you have four of them, this will HEAVILY slow your system down. I suggest you get a program called hijack this. Run it, and post the log file results in the question. I'll be able to tell you what you can stop from booting which will increase the speed.

first off....u have more then 1 antivirus.....they are most likely conflicting which is seriously slowing down pc
since u did not say which antivirus and firewall u are using
then i suggest this
UNINSTALL ALL OF THEM
then start fresh
follow these instruction
go here and download this free antivirus
http://www.activevirusshield.com/antivirus/freeav/index.adp?
now go here..download free firewall
http://www.download.com/3000-2092-10039884.html
now go here download free antispy
http://www.superantispyware.com/superantispywarefreevspro.html
these are all free
now that u have what u need
do this
go to start...run..msconfig..press ok...select the start up tab in new window.....disable all..press apply..press ok
restart later
now go to start..control panel...folder options....view..half way down...select show all hidden files and folders..press apply..press ok
now go to start..all programs..accessories...system tools...disc clean up....it will analyze c drive ..when it has finished analyzing...it will show u a list ..check all the boxes in list...click next....
it will disappear when it is finished...it could take any where from 2 minutes to 2o minutes...do not cancel it
1 thing i almost forgot
if u go to control panel and do not see folder options....look on left hand side...click classic view..then u will see folder options...
now open the antivirus program....make sure u update it...now run full system scan
remove whatever it finds
open superantispyware
update..run complete scan
remove what it finds
u should be ok at this point..if u are not..please message me and i will help further

Try this:
Open up internet explorer, go to tools and internet options. In the general tab, click on delete cookies and delete temporary files.

Then download spybot and run it for spyware. After that, run a virus scan and then run the disk defragmenter on your hard drive.

If that doesn't work, take it to a pro.

Remove 3 of the Virus scan programs, they are probably using 50% of your cpu power at all times.

And you may want to look into upgrading the system.
