make sure your new hard disk jumper is set to master

Sounds like the start up order is wrong, look in bios. Why not run both hard drives off the same mother bord, set one to master and the other to slave using the pins at the back (jumpers).

did you re-set your master drives jumpers?

if your old boot drive was C and your larger boot drive is D then your boot.ini could be messed up.

to keep things simple, you can try taking the old boot drive and switch it to the slave drive and make your larger drive the master...and make sure your boot order is set to hdd0 in your bios (in the setup menu, possibly advanced settings, it may say 'first boot device')

why didnt you just use your new drive for your data? Is your old drive failing? what program did you use for ghosting your C drive? Do you know what the boot.ini is or does? Dont forget to set the hdd's jumpers when changing your drives roles. how did you have the drives configured when you placed the ghost copy to it?

did you compare your goal to the different methods of achieving that goal? maybe ghosting your drive wasn't the best choice for what your actual goal was....hmmmmm

I dont fully understand u but are both ur HDDs connected or just the new one? my best guess is ur bios is reading 2 master drives.... go into bios while in start up and configure the system drive as a master.

With two storage devices one must be set to master the other slave. Make sure the OS is on the Master, the boot drive.

try changing your jumpers on the hard drive.
the bios is looking for a bootable system file system.
be it a few files on the hard drive or a bootable diskette/cd
