I am not a big fan of suggesting registry editing to anyone.

That said, I wouldn't edit your registry if I were you. There is too much you can screw up.

Your issue seems to be hardware related anyhow so let's start with the basics.

First, with the computer off, make sure all the connections are seated tightly. Both the power and ribbon cables should be checked on the back of the drives and on the motherboard.

Turn the computer on and go into the BIOS. It should show you if it detects the drives. If the drives show up in the BIOS then just exit the bios without saving.

If it does not detect in the BIOS, then you need to try a new data cable.

If it still does not detect in the BIOS then you either have the jumpers on the back of the drives set incorrectly, or either the drives or the controller on the motherboard is going bad.

If it detected in the BIOS just fine, go back into windows and see if they show up. If they don';t show up in windows, and do not show up in the device manager, then you have some major OS issues and should back up all the data you can and reinstall Windows.

Try removing the upper and lower filters in the registry.

# Remove the Upper and Lower values from the following registry path

To open the registry, go to start, then run, then type regedit. then hit ok.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \SYSTEM \CurrentControlSet \Control\Class \{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

* Expand the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE key by double clicking it.
* Expand the SYSTEM Key
* Expand the CurrentControlSet Key
* Expand the Control Key
* Expand the Class Key
* Highlight the {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} key
* Locate the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters values in the right pane
* Collapse all open registry keys and close the registry editor

Restart computer
