I'm mainly a Mac guy and for years I've been able to clone my boot drive to an external Firewire hard drive and then boot from it and it look and act exactly like my main hard drive, with all my files and apps right there.

Is this possible with Windows XP? If so I need to set this up for my sister.

Thanks!

Yeah, she'll be using it as a backup, for when her hard drive bites the dust, as they all do eventually!

It's possible only if the specs of two computers are same. (or almost same). One thing is you cannot use MS's automatic update on both computers.

Good Luck!

Possible yes but has to be on the same pc to do it because the windows activater uses specific id's from the motherboard, cpu, and video card when its activated, so when it sees a new mainboard it will want to activate again and when you try it will tell you that your copy has already been activated. Good luck to you!

Ha ha ha! This is one of the great things about Mac that Windows will never be able to do. Sure, you could try, but it will never work without a hitch.
