Alright, Im currently in the market for a new computer, somewhere in the range of $1000-$2000, preferably with a monitor. Ive been looking at the Xps 410 for a good while as while as the new Mac pro, but the mac pro is to expensive unless anyone knows any special offers, or anything. Any suggestions on other good retailers fore longer-lasting upgradable computers that can hanlde games like Doom3, or the like? Special offers or deals would be very helpful as well. Thanks!

-Fan controller with small LED display. Controlling 2 LED 80mm fans and the CPU fan that comes with the CPU.

-DVD RW +/- Drive (IDE)

-CD RW drive (IDE)

-Floppy drive

That is my NEW configuration which I have not built yet. Will the Ultra V series 350W power supply (link below) work for the above configuration? If not, in your answer please give me a link to a new one (I prefer Newegg.com).

i would like a desktop. we are using it primarily for school/homework, media projects (photos, video and art) and music storage (downloaded and original scores). doesnt need any business bells/whistles, just basic stuff but powerful and user friendly. sales people are not a good source because they are trying to make a sale. i want user feedback and recommendations please. affordable as well. trying to spend less than $800.

I don't know much about computer types and brands, so I need help! I am looking for an inexpensive (perferably less than $700) desktop computer. I would like it to have a flat screen with a dvd player and cd burner built in. What is recommended?

I've always read that refurbishment is a good way to save some money. But, I'm concerned that there may be cosmetic defects or other problems.

Has anyone purchased a refurbished computer and had good luck (especially if you have done it several times)

More importantly has anyone had any problems and if so, what?

I'm thinking of going with Apple

Thanks

How to find amd equivalent of a pentium...say which amd processor is as fast as 2.8 GHz P4? Can you compare pentium and amd just like you compare different pentiums ( I say 2.8 is certainly better than 2.4 Ghz P4...)?

I was jusg wondering if there was a way to fix my computer hard drive while saving the information that was stored on it, I try and put it in my computer now (which it worked in like a month ago) and the computer won't read it, it also makes the computer freeze and crash. I have 2 hard drives so the working one I took out and then put the non-workin one in and it won't boot... so the question is there a way to fix the hardware part of the hard drive while saving the data? Or is there a way to transfer the data without a computer?
