if i do a system restore from one of the checkpoints....how long will it take? minutes? hours?.......

and if there is a virus which i might not know about, would it hopefully take that away also?

Less than 10 minutes, if that long. And yes, if you have acquired a virus between now and the date you choose for a system restore, it would remove the virus. It will also remove any downloads between those two times, but not documents you have saved. And remember, any system restore is "undoable." If a system restore does not do what you want it to, you can restore it back to the beginning date.

I have had to do this a couple of times, it usually only takes about 10-15 min

Not even 10 around 3-5 its just like restarting the computer when i do it and my pc is a pice.

Not long at all, i had to do it once and it took less then 10 minutes.
