when I try to select one icon, for example when I select my computer Icon and and when I try to select my document icon both icon simnetlesly and afer that when i try to refresh my coumputer did not work

What is the best computer i can buy with 2000 bucks?
I want:
-A big hardrive (200gigs+)
-Nice graphics (not too over-the-edge a 128 or 256 mb card is fine)
-1 or 2 gigs of memory
-Quiet and stays cool
-Looks pretty stylish
-Is good for some advanced video editing (I have to do documentaries for school)

what will gimme the most bang for my buck

My current computer is 5 years old, an HP and still runs great. I'm good at using computers but I don’t know a whole lotwhen it comes to adding new hardware and things like that. I really want to upgrade some things, mainly just my memory, graphics card, dvd/cd drive, and processor. But I also wanted to add memory card slots to the front like some of the newer models have if this is even possible. Problem is my computer does not have spaces for the memory card slots so I’m guessing I probably won’t be able to do that. Is it possible to upgrade my computer with this so I don't have to buy a whole new one? or should I really just get a new computer?

Can I use the old computer's harddrive as an external drive for my new computer. For example taking it out and connecting a usb cable to it and pretty much use it for a back up drive or something. Any suggestion will be thankfully appreciated.

I just built a new pc with a core 2 duo e6600. Stock speed 2.4 ghz (i'm not much of an overclocker). My temps used to be around 48C at idle, but for some reason they suddenly idle at mid 50'sC. Load still doesn't go beyond early 60, 63C is the top i've measured after heavy load (loads includes either games or 3D design). I think that might be a tad high, is my processor in danger? what's the top acceptable temp? i use CoreTemp for the readings. Thanks in advance.

What I want in my computer:
-Lots of storage to hold my downloaded torrents
-A graphics card that plays World of Warcraft
-Fast, able to multitask
-Not too expenisve
-Easy-to-use
-No viruses
-No stupid demos (AOL, McAfee, 30-day-free-trial!, etc.) that drives me crazy

P.S. Can I add DDR2 memory to an iMac 20 inch 2.16 Ghz?

Looking to learn more about processors. Am a little familiar with the intel brand (other than the Celeron D? - is this one of their faster or newer ones?). What is considered faster in AMD, Athalon or Sempron? And last but not least, which would be faster: 1.8GHz or 3.2Ghz? I think I may have those two confused.

I have the Ubuntu live CD. I want to install it. It says that I need to partition the disk. My options are:

•Resize IDE1 master, partition #1 (hda1) and use free space
•Erase entire disk: IDE1 master (hda) - 60.1 GB
•Use the largest continous freespace
•Manually edit partition table

Which should I do?

I just bought a new hard drive for my Dell Dimension Desktop B110. I can't copy my current hard drive to anywhere else on the computer (D drive cannot be formatted). Can I copy all of the files to a floppy disk, a CD or some other way than backing it up on the computer?

I have a Dell Dimension 4700C. The warranty has ran out and I'm a poor seminary student, so I can't pay to get it fixed.
Problem: I turned it off durning a lightning strom, but I did so in a hurry by unpluging it. When I pluged it back in it would turn on. I tried pressing the on button several times, but it wouldn't come back on. The power source is good, the plug is good, so the computer is the problem.

Do you know of any materials that might show me how to fix this computer. Websites, ebooks, books, specifically geared towards this problem and this computer. Please help!!!

i was working on an essay while connected to internet through broadband and my computer just went off into power saving off mode. when i switched it back on it had to go through loading everything again and luckly id saved my essay so it wasint lost. why does this happen and how can i prevent it.
