Desktops - December 2006

Recently, everytime my PC boots up, it keeps restarting itself three times, after that things work normally and I get this message saying "NvVid.exe: There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive/Device/Harddisk4/DR6.

The thing is I have NOT tamperd with my PC or added hardware.

I have no clue how to stop it, please, I'm need help!

I know someone who has just bought a used pc privately, and the hard drive failed soon after. An engineer has told them the seller would have been aware of the problem, the seller insists not. Please help as this dispute is getting ugly!

I'm considering buying a Media Center PC (or perhaps waiting for Vista), but have no idea how much hard drive memory I need! I want to record movies from TV onto my HD but how much space do they chew up? Obviously it'll range based upon the length of the movie and the quality but say it's a 2 hour movie recorded 'good' quality - how much memory will i be using?

This seems like some horrible circle. I need to reinstall my OS because my computer is no longer recognizing my CD drive. . . but I need to use the CD drive to reinstall the OS, what do I do?

I admit my hardware knowledge is dated from the 90s, but figured it's all about the same.. I have a Celeron 3.06 478 processor in an Asus motherboard, but for whatever reason there is no video at all. Power supply ATX and P4 are connected. What I'm finding weird, is that in the process of turning on and off, the CPU is completely cold .. like it's not getting power. Is this normal? Also, the CPU fan seems to spin faster than normal .. like maybe it's a code that something isn't connected right ?

I have a question about the new Dell optiplex 320, A friend just got one and I've tried to find some specs. on it. The only thing I can find is at the Dell site but am wondering if the is any other Place I can for more Info. on it? The thing Didn't come with speaker to start with... Any information would help, I don't have dirrect access to the computer just talk over the phone about it and they are not really computer knowledgable.

Hi. My friend needs to get a RAM upgrade so that his games can load faster. At the moment he has 512. However I think a gig would be good. He has 2x256 sticks. Would these two 512 sticks work?

i have a 60gb hard drive and im going to buy a 200gb hard drive for my computer. so what do i do with the cabe or wire from the 200gb drive(not the power cored) conect it to my 60gb? people stoled me to slave the 200 gb to the 60gb hard drive what does that mean? conect the 200gb to the 60gb? how do i do this? will it come with the right cord when i buy the 200gb? if not what cord do i need? thanks so much for you help!!!!

well, i have a Dell desktop and just recently.. i seem to have some problem with the comp. it suddenly shuts down and this blue screen comes up with some words. A lot actually.. Fills out the whole page. There are codes and stuffs but what i recongnise is something like IRQ_LESS_OR_ EQUAL.

i am not certain about it. but it has those words.

i have Norton but i am not even sure if it is a virus.. you dont get to do anything really. Just have to pull the cable off and turn it on again. Then it runs fine. But this happens maybe every 3-4 days.

Help! the computer is quite new but i think it is over its warranty period. So. i am looking for some cheap solutions.

What should i do now?

It is getting power because the light behind the power switch is lit and the ethernet cable led is lit, but when i go to power it on nothing happens, no fans nothin. I have tried different outlets and still nothing. Help.

after i plugged im my kodak camera to the USB port an error comes up saying randll32 or something like that but now the computer will not start windows its window millenium. so i put in the recovery disk and start it up and it goes to a black screen and with a bunch of wrighting the last thing it has is the letter A. then i can type in a command. i dont know what to type . i even tried going to the bio sreen and switching witch drive to start first. need help parents dont wanna by a new computer what needs to be done some plz help not a computer wiz here some explaine in laymen term plz . im goin crazy
