The first thing you have to determine is if the original drive is IDE or SATA. If SATA (Serial ATA) the hook up is diffrent from the one I've given you here. Do you want the new drive to be your main drive or is it just for storage? If it's to be the main drive you'll need a new copy of windows, if it's just for extra storage, here's how to do the install:
1. Turn off and unplug the computer and remove the battery (if a laptop).
2. Remove the case cover(s), and ground yourself to a metal portion of the computer case by touching it.
3. Check the jumper setting on the back of the original equipment main drive and make sure it is set to the "MA-Master" position.
4. Set the jumper on the back of the new drive to the "SL-Slave" position.
5. Install the drive in the case with the screws, IDE and power ports pointed toward the rear of the case.
6. Plug the second (free) IDE ribbon cable plug (on the same IDE ribbon cable as the original hard drive) and a free "Molex" power cable plug into the new drive.
7. Replace the cover(s) and plug the computer back in.
8. Right tic on "My Computer". Select "Manage". Left tic on "Disk Management". In the right pane, right tic on the new drive and select "Format". If asked, choose NTFS for the new drive, not FAT32. After the new drive "formats" it is ready to use for extra storage space.

Look at the back of ur HD, U will see a lil jumper, its easily removed. Find the paperwork which tells you where to put that jumper for a slave drive, thats it, Use the etra plug that comes off the other HD to plug it in.
