Hi. My friend needs to get a RAM upgrade so that his games can load faster. At the moment he has 512. However I think a gig would be good. He has 2x256 sticks. Would these two 512 sticks work?

This is his PC type.

NO it wil not work and I cannot believe those last two answers. The RAM you gave a link to is ECC registered RAM, and his computer takes non-ECC RAM. That really amazes me that two people would give an absolutely wrong answer like that. Also, why they would send you to crucial.com which overcharges for their stuff amazes me as well. Tell him to get this, it is a set of 512 sticks that will work for him:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820227031

Yes it'll work fine, but he'd probably get better quality buying from Crucial than some no name generic brand sold by Directron. See here:

UPDATED RESPONSE:
mysticman44, ummm dipshit, it'll work fine, as long as both modules are the same. You can't use non registered ram in a system that requires registered ram, however, it can go the other way around.

YES! IT WILL WORK.

But there's a catch; the ram you've reffered to is ECC. ecc is an error correcting format. And since your motherboard does not support ecc,the ram will work in non-ecc mode(no big deal).

I suggest you buy the same ram without ecc support(SEARCH FOR SAME SPEC,JUST ADD NON ECC) since they come cheaper and you can save money :-)

Based on the information provided at the two links, yes.
Although I agree with the suggestion of Crucial memory or similar

Go to Crucial.com and use their tool to find the proper memory for your computer. Then you can find it at the best price and buy it.
